Sedation Dentistry

Whether it be from past bad experiences or simply hearing stories about horrible trips to a dental office, having a fear of the dentist is very common. Even though we always strive to make your visit as comfortable as possible, some patients may need a little help relaxing. We can accomplish this with our sedation options.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is a way of calming your nerves through the administration of a sedative before or during your procedure. All the fears you had about your procedure will dissipate as a sense of calm washes over you. This can create positive experience with lasting benefits.

What are My Sedation Options?

Nitrous Oxide

For less invasive procedure, as well as for those with dental anxiety, we will gently place a small mask over your nose and ask you to slowly inhale nitrous oxide – also known as laughing gas. You will begin to feel relaxed almost immediately until you are free of any stress or anxiety.

Oral Sedation

We will give you a prescribed dose of a sedative which you will take before your procedure. The strength of the medication will determine how far in advance you should take it. This can range from the night before right up until just an hour before you see us.

IV Sedation

Before we begin your procedure, we will administer a sedative into your bloodstream, which will leave you awake but completely calm. The remarkable thing about this option is that you may not even remember what happened!

What are the Benefits of Sedation Dentistry?

  • Keeps you in a completely relaxed state during your procedure

  • The procedure can be completed faster

  • Pain-free treatment

  • Reduces your gag reflex
