Bridges

Being without a tooth can have some difficult consequences. Besides leaving you with an incomplete smile, it can also cause your nearby teeth to shift, making your smile look crooked. When you come to DentalMed Associates, we can provide you with a fully functional restoration in the form of a dental bridge!

What are Dental Bridges?

Sometimes dental implants just aren’t going to be an option. While they do provide better stimulation to the jawbone which prevents deterioration, they’re not the perfect choice for everyone. This can be from not wanting the invasive surgery or your bone just not being strong enough to support implants.

With a dental bridge, we use the surrounding teeth as anchors for the artificial teeth, meaning we won’t be opening the gum or drilling into the bone. Crowns are placed over your natural teeth and the new tooth is bonded to them.

What’s the Process of Getting Dental Bridges?

After completing an oral exam, we will create an impression of your mouth to properly create your new restoration. Next, we will begin preparing your teeth for dental crowns. This involves reshaping the teeth so we can place the crowns on top.

Once your new tooth is finished, which is also called a pontic, we will fit it in the location of the gap and bond it to the surrounding crowns.
